Lecture:
This lecture will focus on several of Jason’s all-time favorite effects for both magicians and laymen alike.
Although he is known to be fond of, and proficient with, some of the more difficult sleight-of-hand maneuvers possible with a deck of cards, Jason has ensured that this lecture contains routines that are well within the grasp of most beginning and intermediate card handlers.
Some examples:
The Third Shuffle – an absolutely diabolical impossible location. This has fooled virtually everyone that has ever seen it performed. Best of all, it’s entirely self-working.
Conning Caveney – From the mind of Steve Forte, this is an almost perfect gambling demonstration wherein the four Aces are instantly shuffled to fall to the performer after having been shown to be hopelessly dispersed in the deck. There is no funny business on the deal as the Aces really are moved to the proper places for the deal. Let the spectator deal if you want!
Fever Nails – Completely self-working and fools the entire room. We can’t give anything else away, it's REALLY good. It’s fun and easy to do.
Aces to Order – Cut the four Aces from a deck in any order the spectators ask for them. Every move conforms to standard card-table procedures (apparently) and the spectator can even dead cut to the last Ace herself! Not self-working, but within reach of most dedicated card workers.
LePaul Gag – A simple and humorous take on Paul LePaul’s “Gymnastic Aces” idea. This is perfect for conventions and late-night session, back-pocket effects. If you can do a faro-shuffle, you can do this one.
In addition to the effects listed above, Jason will be discussing and sharing techniques and ideas on a variety of classic sleight-of-hand moves from the gambling world, and how they can be applied to everyday magic to improve the impact of the effect. Here are just a few of the sleights that will be covered: second deal, push-through shuffle, bottom deal, riffle stacking, the Erdnase Diagonal Palm Shift and palming cards.
While mastery of these moves takes many months or even years, it is Jason’s contention that many of them can be put into practice in just a matter of weeks with the right instruction and effect selection. Let him show you how to overcome years of frustration and put these moves into your working repertoire in a fraction of the time it would normally take!
Workshop:
$75 per person for three-hour workshop
Limited seating to a maximum of 10 people.
If you’ve ever wanted to improve your understanding of advanced sleight-of-hand maneuvers, here is your chance!
Jason England has spent the past twenty years mastering some of the most difficult moves possible with a deck of cards.
Jason has also been using these moves in his regular magic acts and gambling demonstrations throughout his entire career. His knowledge of these moves, his years of experience and his background as an academic instructor provide you with the ultimate learning opportunity.
If you want a real teacher to teach you the real work, you’ve come to right place.
Although each workshop will be tailored to the specific needs of the attendees, you can expect to be taught the proper methods for:
Second deal – Both push-offs and strike techniques will be taught.
Bottom deal – The evolution of the modern bottom deal described in full detail.
Center deal – Hard? Yes. But not as hard as you think it is!
Palming – The classic Erdnase system. Why “fix” what isn’t broken?
The Push-Through Shuffle – A foundational move that will improve your magic, period.
Riffle Shuffle Work – Techniques that will increase the deceptiveness of nearly all of your routines.
The MacMillan Turnover Switch – Straight from the feature film Shade, this move has a reputation for being next to impossible. It isn’t impossible; it just needed a good teacher to show you how to do it!
Last, but not least, Steve Forte has given his permission for Jason to discuss the actual workings of many of the effects from the ‘52’ sequence that was recently released on Steve’s Gambling Protection Series DVDs. Many of these techniques have never been shown on film before and are rarely discussed. If you’ve seen this ground-breaking set and want to know how some of those things were accomplished, now’s your chance, and it may be the only one you’ll ever get!
Review:
"Jason England is the modern day Erdnase! His skill and knowledge of the pasteboards in gambling and magic is unmatched. I consider him right next to Steve Forte and Richard Turner as one of the best card technicians in the world. His lecture and workshop will give you a full understanding of what real card work is all about."
