Max Maven
Bob Sheets
Max Maven (Los Angeles) has been a radio announcer, graphic designer, author, pianist, teacher, singer, actor, lecturer, screenwriter, composer, advertising consultant, and chef. He reads over 150 books and magazines each month, a constant flow of information that provides continual stimulation of new ideas for his uncanny abilities.
Bob Sheets (Washington, DC via San Diego, Chicago and Aspen) is everyone’s favourite uncle – a little fun, a little dance, a little seltzer in his pants - although no one can remember where he came from. How could he fool you: He sounds like a truck driver, and can hardly form a sentence. You could never be so wrong.

Masters of Magic - Celebrating the Art of Impossible

For ten extraordinary days in June, Toronto’s stages, streets, and public spaces are illuminated with arts and creativity with Luminato. This annual multi-disciplinary celebration of theatre, literature, music, food, dance, celebrations, visual arts, fashion, film featured magic for the first time in 2010.

For the inagural "magic"year, we invited Spain’s Juan Tamariz - internationally recognized superstar of magic and comedy - to demonstrate his skillful minimalist and improvisational magic in Spanish and English.

We asked charismatic mentalist Max Maven, once described by Orson Welles as “the most original mind in magic,” to display his skill as a master mind reader.

And we persuaded Mac King, a hilarious humourist with a magical bent from Las Vegas, to share his charming, comical and magical talents with Toronto.

We also set Bob Sheets loose on the streets of Toronto to create magical moments to just "happen" here and there, from the Luminato "Ship of Fools" to Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabiliation Hosptial.

Sponsorship

Luminato's Masters of Magic series was produced in association with Magicana and made possible by generous support from The Slaight Family through Luminato’s SuperNova Program Development Fund.

Juan Tamariz’s performance was kindly supported by The Consulate General of Spain.
