Sharing Secrets 2022, Part 1

June 22, 2022

An exciting first for the Allan Slaight Awards: this year, we have two recipients for the Sharing Secrets category! That’s right, for 2022, the Slaight Family Foundation has pledged to give $20,000 to this magic-sharing category.

This award celebrates exceptionally creative and innovative work in the study of magic; and along with the $10,000 prize, each recipient also receives an engraved iPad to commemorate the occasion. In the past, we have honoured the achievements of Mike Caveney, Richard Kaufman, John Lovick, the College of Magic in South Africa, Juan Tamariz and Rafael Benatar, and David Sandy and Lance Rich.

Today, we are announcing the first of two recipients. It is a joy to introduce KAYLA DRESCHER and to highlight the exceptional effort Kayla is making as a voice for diversity and inclusion inside of the magic community through the podcast SHEZAM.

Learn more about Shezam: how, and why, came to be; and how it has evolved through Kayla’s dedication to bring forth important conversations and discussions about building equity within the magic community.

MORE TO COME

Tomorrow, Thursday, we reveal the second recipient for Sharing Secrets. Any guesses?

Come back and find out if you are right tomorrow.
